We have traveled for several hours to reach our destination, and when we finally arrived, it was pitch dark. There was a clear sky over us and we could see the stars and the moon very clearly. We pitched two tents; one for models and one for the photographers. The night was cold, but it was unbelievably quiet.
We woke up before sunrise and it was cold and wet. The fresh dew collected on the grass we could feel our shoes become wet only after a couple of steps. L brewed coffee; its fresh aroma brought us back to senses after the restless sleep. It was time to shoot.
We traveled to dunes from our camping site. Arriving just before sunset, we set on a quest of finding that perfect place, the perfect combination of light, texture and composition we could use for our images. A’s experienced eye quickly and diligently searched and found most wondrous spots.
While he was searching, we undressed. A cold ocean wind made it real. The memory of warmth was gone, but as fine art models, both ck and I were used to cold, wet and other unpleasant conditions to work in. Dunes were not an exception. The icy coldness of the sand in the morning made it unbelievably hard to stand, moreover to lie or sit on the untouched sand. But as every experienced model knows, this sacrifice of comfort is very rewarding.
A’s understanding attitude, his ease of communication and a sincere care for his models makes it easy to endure the discomforts of nature. Working with him, you just know, that the reward will be great.
