Keeping it Simple

The following are my favorite shots from last week’s initial shoot of what I’m calling Project Keep it Simple. The basic idea behind the project is to do a serious of shoots in which the main source of illumination is a pair of hand held 75 watt work lights. The thing I like best about this project so far is not knowing the results until the film comes back from the lab. Sure I can get some idea by what I see in front of me as I press the shutter but there’s still an element of surprise especially considering the fact that shooting with my vintage 6×9 folder involves a far bit of guessing as far as framing and focusing go. Another area I’m wondering about is what will happen if I increase the exposure? Will using a longer exposure or larger aperture allow the light to spread out farther thereby illuminating more of the scene or will it simple result in over exposing the area’s closest to the lights?

Mike, maybe you can try this with a film that has a halation layer on it.
it helps for better longer exposure whith such kind of light. (especially this setting)

if you develop by yourself, this film needs pre-soaking (to remove the halation layer bevore deveoping) and use a fine grain developer.

low speed orthochromatic film works also very good for such kind of shots (rollei ortho 25)

    #1 & #3 are my faves… well done m8 :)

    Vernon,
Thanks for the comments and tips :)
These were shot on Fomapan 200 and sent to the local lab for processing so I’m thinking D76 as far as the developer goes.
I think its been 20 years since I last processed a roll of film, been thinking of picking up a kit but have just been to lazy LOL
