Sophie’s Style
Soph has such style to her modeling, and she likes to be anonymous in the photographs. So when I booked my room at the Elandra in Mission Beach and they had props already in the room I was delighted and had a few ideas that would fit to her style of figure work. It’s a challenge to make anonymous nudes. A too obvious pose lets the viewer in on the secret, and I never like to give away my secrets and I wanted to bring out something more that also worked with her style. So this all worked out brilliantly in this space. At least I think so.

Muse @ our house on the beach. Trying to get that feeling of fulfillment back again as the weather turns cold, and the rain pours down. An island awaits in a couple weeks… until then, I’ll remember being here. I’ll remember walking outside and finding Muse cocooned inside of the hammock. Rei in her room practicing her Indian dancing. And myself opening the refrigerator in elation noticing the thoughtful chilled coffee Muse made me just to be nice. I really miss this place.

Wow-y!
The setting looks so surreal, so stark! Works especially well with the images where Muse’s hair is flowing down.
I love the side note about the fridge & the coffee left for you by Muse – she’s a beautiful person inside and out & I think her kind, sweet personality really shines through in these images.

Thank you, Bink!
Yes. the coffee. The espresso machine and I had a terrible fight the first day we arrived. The espresso machine won by spitting out hot water all over my dress and the floor and counter. I gave up and ran down the road to the coffee shop. The next day – because I guess Muse is more adapt at figuring out how to work foreign espresso machines – there was a lovely mocha chilled in the refrigerator. I think I may have made much noise or something during my brawl. ha. But, it’s the little things like that in life that make you smile.

Do you have any Polaroid left?
Rebecca and I didn’t have plans to shoot before arriving to OZ … as I couldn’t get in touch with her traveling booty! But, the first time we shot together in California I was going to use the Holga/Polaroid Back camera with Type 85… but I was out of Sodium Sulfite for clearing the negatives. So, we weren’t able to do that. So in OZ, she and I both had some time the last day and she asked, “do you have any of the Polaroid left?” Awesome! So, that’s all I shot her with. And I’m extremely happy with what we created! Some of these crazy shadows … only this film would ever bring them out like this. So glad I still have some left. These are always very precious pictures to me since there will never be Type 85 again. Enjoy.

Diva Moment
Polaroid Type 85 went right after SX-70. It’s understandable about Type 85 really. I mean, I’m the only one I know who ever shot nudes with it. Maybe someone else is out there? If so… let me know! I want to see your work too. Holga w/Polaroid back and Type 85. I still have mass amounts of film left.
I thought I would go through 12 packs in Australia, but alas… I broke my Polaroid bucket once I got to OZ and had to use a bowl from the house I rented so trucking around in the rainforest wasn’t so optional. Improvising is fun.
One day I photographed Rei and Muse at the house we were staying in together. The quote of the day was, “Ladies! Quit talking about boys and start talking about POSES!” I was running back and forth from the bowl to the shooting spot with Polaroid goo on my fingers and the paper stuff stuck to them while trying to hold two developed positives in my mouth at times. I swear if I ever had a “diva moment” that was it. Muse and Rei continued to taunt me about it for days. I’m certain my hair MUST have been sticking out all over the place too. It wasn’t… but it ads to the drama so play along. I was acting very exasperated because I was actually upset at the sun. See, it was moving way too rapidly and I needed it to stay where it was for at least another hour. But, of course time doesn’t play that way… so exasperated I was. Here are some of the “diva moment” photographs. With Type 85 of course.
- Hey Rei, Zoe is kind of being a Diva, don’t you think? Yes Muse, I think that.

Did it really have to end?
Of course I know it did but I’m sure I’m not the only one that wishes it didn’t. Last week would have to be one of the best weeks of my life and I wish I didn’t have to wait a whole year to do it all again. Never before have I had the opportunity to work with so many amazing models in such a short time as well as socialise with both models and photographers and develop what I hope will be life long friendships with some very talented people.
A big thanks must go to Zoe and Michael Marlborough for organising this event. We all owe you big time! Thanks also to all the models I shot with as it was your special talents and collaborative efforts that helped me get some really amazing images.
I guess now it is all over I do have time to post some more images so here is a selection from my remaining shoots with Candace, Rebecca, Stephanie Anne, Vassanta, Muse, Madame Bink and Ivory Flame.
Keep in touch everyone, I miss all of you already!

October 5
Today was spent being extremely mellow after all the traveling we had to do to get here. The room I have lends itself well to shooting and relaxing so I did a bit of both.
I see heaven out my window. Friends at the pool, tropical flowers on the walkways, and butterflies and Wallabys around every corner.
Soph and I had a shoot about 2 hours ago and I can’t wait to develop my film when I return home. In the mean time you will all just have to get an idea from my iPhone snaps.
Now if you’ll excuse me… I have a date with the swimming pool! Rei and Muse are already there.

How about some photos of the Wallabies? Jealous that I’m not there.
